Doyle Altman Hughes, Sr., 84 of Palm Bay, Florida passed from this life Friday, May 1, 2015 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.

He was born February 1, 1931 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Jim and Emma Masters Hughes. He was a member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church.

Notable accomplishments in his life include serving his country in the U.S. Army, earning a degree at Arkansas State University, teaching in the public school system and working for the U.S. Government for many years. He also was an avid Redskins fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva Holloway Hughes of the home, 3 sons, Carey Griffin of Little Rock, Doyle Jr., and James Hughes of Palm Bay, Fl., 1 step-daughter, Anne Bozarth (Jerry) of Jonesboro, AR., and 7 grandchildren, Kim Eaker (Tim), Jared Bozarth, Kelley Bozarth all of Jonesboro, Jacki Wangness (Steven) of Virginia, James Doyle Hughes of Miami, Fl., Michael Hughes of Palm Bay, Fl and Brandy (Kerry) Weber of Houston, TX.

7 great grandchildren, Magen Cope and Layne Bozarth of Jonesboro, Angela Rose, Ava and Autum of Virginia, Gracelynn and Alyssa of Houston, Tx, 3 great great grandchildren, Tyler, Ashilin and Brooklin Cope of Jonesboro. Sisters, Betty Hill of Poplar Bluff, MO. and Joy Coleman of Jonesboro, AR., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Monday, May 11, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home. Service will be at 2:00 pm with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers include James Doyle Hughes, Michael Hughes, Tim Eaker, Roger Scott, David Thorne and Robert Sutton.
