Doyal "Sy" Simpson

April 8, 1934 — May 30, 2012

Doyal “Sy” Simpson, 78, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at NEA Baptist Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro for 58 years, moving here from the Light Community. Sy was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, designing his own jigs and wrote a book on fishing. Doyal was a member of the National American Crappie Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Norma Simpson, of the home; daughters, Kim Garrett and husband, Jim of Forrest Grove, Oregon; Holly Wright and husband, Bob of Cordova, Tennessee; brothers, Edsel Simpson of Macks Creek, Missouri; J. L. Simpson of Jonesboro; Wayne Simpson of Light, Arkansas; Bill Simpson of Paragould; sisters, Emma Nell Light, Anita Miller, and Nona Wilson; grandchildren, Dustin Nouri, and Shane Nourizadeh.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June, 2, 2012 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mike Martin and Josh Niswonger officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
