On July 27, 2026 Rev. Douglas Taggart Sr peacefully gained his wings at Saint Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas with his loving family by his side.

Douglas Taggart Sr. was born on November 6, 1958 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Lee and Mary Taggart Sr. He was the oldest of 8 children. Douglas accepted Christ at an early age at Prosperity Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City Arkansas. He graduated from Forrest City High School and joined the United States Airforce. He later moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas where he met the love of his life Becky. He married Opal-Becky Taggart. They were blessed with 2 sons Douglas-Spinner Jr., and Jeremy.

Douglas was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a highly skilled carpenter and masonry worker. Douglas really loved the Lord and his family. He was of the nondenominational church. Douglas loved music – he played the guitar, fishing, dogs, sports, cooking/barbeque, and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He had a good sense of humor and always trying to keep people lifted up with laughter.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father Lee Taggart Sr., maternal grandparents Guy and Earthie Lee Wright, paternal grandparents Issac and Jessie Taggart, step daughter Angela Noble and step granddaughter Katelyn Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory his Wife - Opal Taggart, Sons - Douglas (Jessica) Taggart Jr., and Jeremy (Danielle) Taggart, Stepson - Billy Noble. Grand Children- Alexis Taggart, Abram Taggart, and Lucas Taggart, Step grandchildren - Kaydence Noble, Korbyn Noble and Adelyn Noble, Mother - Mary Taggart, Brothers – Lee (Anita) Taggart Jr., Harvey Taggart, Alvin (Jeanette) Taggart, Mark (Karen) Taggart, and Lamont Taggart, Sisters – Patrica Taggart, and Perlisa (Brian) Rookey, one uncle and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. The memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Doug will be laid to rest at Nettleton Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
