Doug Bradley, 90, passed this life on June 29, 2026. Doug attended Union Grove Grade School, Bono High School, and Arkansas State College. Doug is a Christian and a member of Valley View Church of Christ. He was an infantry squad leader in the United States Army. Doug had a career as a lineman and later a manager for three telephone companies in Arkansas, Texas, and Virginia.

Doug found his greatest joy in the simple things in life—time spent with his family, serving others, staying active, and always enjoying a good book. An avid reader with an inquisitive mind, he believed there was always something new to learn. A man of remarkable self-discipline, he remained physically active throughout his life. Whether riding his bicycle for miles or playing tennis well into his seventies, he embraced every stage of life with energy, determination, and gratitude. He never met a stranger and cherished conversations with friends, neighbors, and anyone whose path he crossed. Whether lending a helping hand or sharing a story, Doug made people feel welcome and valued.

He was known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and ability to fix just about anything—including the bicycles of nearly every child in every neighborhood where he lived. Years spent as a telephone lineman taught him resourcefulness and perseverance, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Family and friends often relied on his practical wisdom, calm presence, and willingness to help whenever he was needed. He embodied the belief that "everything is figure-outable," demonstrating that no problem was too big to solve and no mountain too high to climb.

Gifted with an exceptional memory and a remarkable command of language, Doug was a natural storyteller and accomplished orator. He could quote Scripture from memory, recall sermons he had heard years before, and recite long poems he had learned as a child and carried with him throughout his life. He delighted family and friends with songs, ballads, and stories that brought to life the people, places, and history he had known firsthand. His quick wit, thoughtful humor, and clever turn of phrase made every conversation memorable.

Above all, Doug's greatest loves were his faith and his family. Wise, strong, humble, and deeply loving, he had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome. He was as quick to listen as he was to laugh, and his stories, humor, and genuine interest in others left lasting impressions on everyone he met. To many in his family, Doug was more than a husband, brother, father, grandfather, or uncle—he was a trusted friend, a steady source of wisdom, and a father figure whose guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love shaped their lives. He lived with integrity and quiet strength, leaving a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and the enduring reminder that the greatest measure of a life is found in the people it touches.

Doug was predeceased by his father, Elisha J. Bradley, mother, Mildred Mae Luttrell, and stepfather, Clinton Luttrell.

Surviving Doug are his wife of 21 years, Evelyn Bradley; daughters, Cheryl Parker and husband Steven Parker of Cullman, Alabama, and Rena Roach and husband Rodgey Roach of Bella Vista; grandchildren, Tori Annett of Cullman, Alabama, and Madeline Barnes and husband Tyler Barnes of Lowell; four great-grandchildren, Bram Annett, Harper Barnes, Emmy Barnes, and Rosie Barnes; his brother, Donald Bradley, and sisters, Arlene Bowdon and Donnis Massey; Evelyn's children and grandchildren, who were embraced as part of his extended family; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday followed by a remembrance service at 10 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
