Doug McCarty passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 in the loving arms of his heartbroken wife. Doug and Sarita enjoyed 32 happy years of marriage and the joy of being best friends. The last eight years were exceptional as they traveled far and wide in their motorhome and appreciated the company of special RV friends in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Following graduation, Doug was a proud member of the US Air Force for four years. He then began his professional career working for 3M where he held numerous positions and traveled to many countries as an engineering specialist. Doug kept busy in retirement tinkering on his 1937 Nash and could often be found helping a neighbor or friend.
An avid ASU Redwolves football fan, Doug attended all regular season and bowl games with a special group of beloved football friends. Tailgating with these friends was something he and Sarita looked forward to. During the season, Monday nights were dedicated to Matt's radio show and Wednesday lunches were with the Touchdown Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Red Wolves Foundation are welcomed. Checks can be mailed to Red Wolves Foundation, P O Box 2219, State University, AR, or click the “in memory of” link found onlne at redwolvesfoundation.com.
In addition to Sarita, Doug is survived by the children of their combined family Nicole, Ashley, Eric, Patrick H, Ian, and Liam and grandchildren Natasha, Brittany, Nicholas, Zachary, Caleb, Jason, Lesley, Alexa, and Caroline. He was predeceased by son Patrick A. Doug is also survived by his brothers Jimmy, Donald (Susan), Joe (Mary), Clarence (Nancy), and sisters Margaret (Eugene) and Marlice. He was predeceased by brother Patrick and sister Karen (Del), and his parents Patrick McCarty and Georgianne Jordan. Doug also cherished his many nieces, nephews, their children, and the annual summer McCarty Family Reunion.
