Dottie Dale Gossett

Dottie Dale Gossett, of Jonesboro, passed away on September 11, 2023 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was 80 years old. She was born on September 27, 1942 to L.W. Maple and Lida McCarty Maple.

Dottie was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and lived at her home on Poplar Street since 1966. She was of the Baptist belief and was a longtime member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.

Dottie was a devoted Christian woman and found peace and comfort attending church. She was also a member of the Hostess Committee at Prospect Church. Dottie was a fan of Wheel of Fortune, crosswords, Solitaire, and reading. She never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with those she met. Above all else, Dottie loved her family. Her grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren, were her pride and joy. She doted on them and cherished every moment she had with her great-grandchildren. At sporting events, she was their number one fan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, L.W. and Lida Maple; her brothers, Glenn, Bobby, Alvin, and Donald Maple; and her sister, JoAnna Miller.

Dottie is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ralph Gossett; her daughter, Debra Rorie of Jonesboro; brother, Leonard Maple of O’Kean; sister, Peggy Whitlow of Walnut Ridge; grandsons, Jasen Rorie of Jonesboro and Nicholas (Amanda) Rorie of Jonesboro; and her precious great-grandchildren, Carly, Hannah, Kenedy, and Denver Rorie, and Breanna and Jason Speaks.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Book officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jasen Rorie, Nicholas Rorie, Rick Gossett, Terry Henson, Tim Gossett, and Ron Coleman. Honorary pallbearers include Denver Rorie and the members of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
