Dorothy Fay Puckett, 77, of Caraway, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born in Leake County, Mississippi, on December 24, 1941, Dorothy lived most of her life in Caraway and Keiser where she and her husband Jim Puckett owned and operated Puckett's Grocery in both communities for many years. After selling the grocery stores Dorothy worked several years for H & W Wire Manufacturing in Osceola as well as the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office.
Dorothy was of the Baptist faith and her greatest joy in life was helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Vaudine Anderson Stevens Grambling; husband Jim Puckett; son Wayne Puckett; granddaughter Kelly Puckett; 3 brothers: William Stevens, David Stevens and Jessie Stevens; sister Louise Christensen.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Tony Stubblefield of Jonesboro;
daughter-in-law, Cheryl Puckett Rogers of Keiser;
2 grandchildren and their spouses: Steven and Jessica Stubblefield of Caraway and Angie and Perry Dixon of Jonesboro; and
5 great grandchildren: Peyton and Kendall Stubblefield of Caraway, Paxton and Greyson Dixon of Jonesboro and Jesse Burks of Keiser.
A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Caraway. A funeral service will follow visitation in the church with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. A committal service will be in Caraway Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
