Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Schuchardt passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernards.
Dorothy was born February 20, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward Solomon and Dora Good. She graduated from Webster Groves High School in St. Louis County. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Ed Good all of St. Louis, Missouri and a son, Gary Schuchardt of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Dottie pursued her love for fashion and became a clothes buyer for a local department store while living in St. Louis. Traveling to market in New York was a perk of the job she loved so much. Dottie later moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas to marry Robert (Bob) Schuchardt, also a St. Louis native, in January of 1971. Once in Jonesboro and married to Bob, she spent the most joyful years of her life.
Dottie was active within her church, First Presbyterian, and within her community. She was a life member of Junior Auxiliary, once serving as its president, and the A.J. Chapter of P.E.O. Dottie had many social activities that she loved and kept her busy including bridge club, breakfast club and GNOBS. Entertaining her treasured friends and family is something Dottie enjoyed thoroughly. Bob and Dottie had the opportunity to travel together frequently both abroad and in the United States. One of her favorite trips was their annual October Florida beach trip with a large group of friends.
She is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, Robert (Bob) Schuchardt and three sons: Kurt Schuchardt and wife, Vicki of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Brian Schuchardt and wife, Lydia of Bartlett, Tennessee; Charles (Chip) and wife, Kristine of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Grandchildren include: Christy and husband, Robert (Rob) Frank of Little Rock, Arkansas; Kyle and Kirby Schuchardt of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Jordan Schuchardt of Bartlett, Tennessee and Charles (Case) and Anne Elise Schuchardt of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dottie is also survived by her beloved brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Sandy Schuchardt of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Additional survivors include nephews Craig Schuchardt of Atlanta, Georgia and Clay Schuchardt of Memphis, Tennessee along with their families. Dottie leaves behind other cherished family members and friends.
For lasting memorials, it is asked consideration be given to the Craighead County Community Foundation Hunger Fund, 407 Union Street, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401 or other local charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation at Emerson Funeral Home from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Stephan Moody, pastor, officiating. Private burial will precede the memorial service.
Pallbearers include Caroline Cameron, Bonnie Goad, Barbara Weinstock, Peggy Hanshaw, Anne Stone, Marystel Appleton, Sandra Burns, Barbara Martin and Gail Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers include the A.J. Chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood, her bridge club, Diane Arnold, Carl and Sandy Schuchardt.
