Dorothy H. Sharp

Dorothy H. Sharp, 83, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Jonesboro, Dorothy lived all of her life in the Jonesboro-Valley View-Gibson Switch area. She served as housekeeping supervisor for many years at Skill Care Nursing Center.

Dorothy was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church and dearly loved cooking and preparing Sunday dinners for her family to enjoy together following worship services. She devoted her entire life to her family and will be sorely missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Staton Sharp; her parents, Charles B. and Zelma Pierce Emerson; her sister, Katherine Brewer; her brother, Charles Emerson, Jr.; and a great granddaughter, Megan Keedy.

Survivors include 1 son, Larry Sharp of Jonesboro;

2 daughters and sons-in-law: Alma and Mack Keedy of Cash, and Sue and Gary Johnson of Jonesboro;

5 grandsons, Brad Sharp, Mack Keedy, Jr., David Keedy, Mark Johnson and Brian Johnson;

8 great grandchildren: Lane Sharp, Cody Sharp, Sara Sharp, Jillian Keedy, Alex Keedy, William Keedy, Garret Keedy, Cole Keedy and Tyler Johnson; and

4 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Wyndel King and Tommy Herndon officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
