Dorothy "Miss Beautiful" Brodell

July 14, 1932 — August 4, 2014

Dorothy “Miss Beautiful” Brodell, 82, of Jonesboro, a lifetime resident, died Monday, August 4, 2014. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Dorothy was a life-long supporter of Troop 4 Boy Scouts. She was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and the St. George Award for scouting. Her community involvements included working with the United Cerebral Palsy, Special Olympics, Arkansas Chapter for the American Cancer Society, and St. Bernard’s Hospice. She enjoyed her bridge club and the Saturday night dance club. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters and one grandchild.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Hubert Brodell, of the home; sons, Hubie Brodell (Deena); Tony Brodell (Caroline); Andy Brodell (Kim); Al Brodell (Erika); Aaron Brodell (Mandy); daughter, Julie Johnson (Carl) all of Jonesboro; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Friday, August 8, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Jack Vu officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with sons, Carl Johnson, Jeremy Brodell and Anthony Brodell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Gschwend, Don Throesch, Guy Riga, Roger DeRoeck, Gene Barnett, Larry Johnson, David Eagle, Dick Darouse, Wallace Fowler, Pierce Barnett, Roy Bearden, Ken Newberry, Steve Greenwood, David Ferguson, Don Bridger, Clark Vickers, Don Davis, Alvin Turner and Shannon Holland. Visitation will be on Thursday night from 5-7 at Emerson Funeral Home with a Rosary starting at 7:00.
