Doris "Doc" Janelle Bishop

Our beloved mother, Doris “Doc” Janelle Adams Bishop was 91 when she passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born December 24, 1928 in Brookland to the late Hugh and Beulah Slayton Adams. Doris lived in Brookland her entire life and was an Arkansas Antebellum family descendant of Pine Log of 1858. She was a member of Pine Log United Methodist Church. Our mother enjoyed watching NASCAR and working in her flower garden. She was part of the Gospel singing group Pine Log Trio. Mom and dad also organized the first summer baseball program in Brookland in 1962.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bishop and sister, Jean Lawrence.

Survivors include her daughter, Dianne (David) Rainwater of Brookland; son, Bobby Bishop of Brookland; 2 grandchildren, David Rainwater of Brookland, Jessica (Joe) Austin of Paragould; 5 great grandchildren: Brock, Drew, Madelyn, Meredith, Ryan Austin and her cat JJ.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Pine Log Cemetery with Bro. Rick Hathcoat officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Rainwater, Brock Austin, Drew Austin, Ryan Austin, Joe Austin, Blake Bishop, Mike Bishop, Robin Bishop, Billy Coggins, Kahlon Mays, Tony Smith, Jim Sanders, Richard Bishop, John Bishop, Scotty McGee, Janette Gambill and Norma Hayes.

For lasting memorials the family asks that consideration be given to the Pine Log Cemetery Association in care of Teddy Foster or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Mom wants everyone to come to her funeral as if they were coming to visit her at home, because that is where she will be, her new home in Heaven.
