Doris M. Cheshier, 95, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed from this life Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Craighead Nursing Center. Doris was born on January 18, 1925 in Jonesboro. She worked and retired from General Electric. Doris was a devoted lifetime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, communion steward, administrative board member, choir member, and faithful follower of Christ for many years. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her big yard, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very patriotic and a proud wife of a World War II veteran, her husband of 72 years, Ralph Cheshier. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Lydia Peters Burdyshaw, her husband Ralph, her four siblings, Grace Burdyshaw, Harry Burdyshaw, Mildred Nolan, and Hazel Burdyshaw; and grandson Kaleb Cheshier. Survivors include her daughter, Paula Cheshier Barnett of Jonesboro; son, Ralph A. Cheshier (Denise) of Jonesboro; brother, Richard Burdyshaw (Margaret) of Ohio; grandchildren, Elizabeth Bittle (James), Rebekah Snyder (Kevin), and Tarah Tibbs; great grandchildren, Brayden Prestidge (Karagon), Brodey Prestidge, Landrie Tibbs, London Tibbs, Lydia Bittle, Sam Bittle and Josie Snyder.
There will be a graveside service, Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Pastor Jim Stillwell officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, there will be no visitation. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Craighead Nursing Center for their loving care of Doris during her stay.
