Dores L. Griffin

Dores L. Griffin, 87 of Jonesboro, passed from this earth Monday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Born to Ben and Dona Hamilton Griffin in Jonesboro, he lived here all his life. Dores was a member of the First Baptist Church, farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid Cardinal and Razorback fan and he loved going to Lake Norfork and gardening. Dores was a member of several clubs including the Catfish Club, a life member of the Elks Club, the American Legion and the McDonalds Coffee Club and a past member of the Jonesboro Grain Dryer Board.

Dores is preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers, 5 sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Janice of the home; daughter, Pam Coleman (Rick) of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Amanda Wesson (Jarod) of Jonesboro and greatgrand baby girl to be born in April.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel from 12:30-2:00 P.M. The service will start at 2:00 P.M. with Kathy Holler officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers include Alan Griffin, Curtis Griffin, Carroll Caldwell, Gary Jones, Steve Baugher, and Steve Bracy.

Honorary Pallbearer are Dr. F.M. Wilson, Jim Murrey, Russell Hendrix, J.D. Salmon, Doyle Yarbrough, Garfield Edgar, Dr.Ziad Awar, Dr. Doug Maglothin, Dr. Eddy Caldwell, Dr. Corey Diamond, McDonalds Coffee Club, and Catfish Club. Thank You to caregivers Geraldine Wortham, Glenda James, Martha Schneider, Pat Johnson, Frances Gibson, Jamie Anderson, Tracy Ashburn and Homehealth. Thanks also goes to the Hospice House staff for their care.
