Donnie Lee Heagwood, 66, of Jonesboro, AR, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 after a battle with cancer and other health challenges.

Born on June 13, 1960 in Helena, Arkansas. Donnie Lee Heagwood was the son of Donald Heagwood & Wanda Nelson.

Lee loved playing football and baseball at Central High School and he was an avid Nascar fan.

After serving his country in the United States Navy, Lee continued a life of service in various ways throughout the years.

In his later years, he became especially passionate about supporting fellow veterans. Through his work and involvement with the Elks Lodge of Jonesboro and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

He is survived by his children, Tiffany Schaffhauser (Michael) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Abby Hardy (Patrick) of West Helena; brothers, Richie Heagwood of Florida & Jeff Heagwood of Arkansas; grandchildren, Chase Schaffhauser, Layton Hardy, Nolan Hardy and his significant other, Emily Swink.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the NEA Baptist physicians, nurses, and hospice team who provided compassionate care and support.

A memorial service will be held at the Jonesboro Elk’s Lodge on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00pm, with military honors recognizing his service to our country.

His life touched many people in different ways, and his memory will be carried forward by those whose lives he impacted through his service, support, and dedication to helping others.
