Donna Reichen Shipman, 77, of Jonesboro died on September 14, 2024.
She was born June 27, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Murray and Valerie Reichen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Shipman, who she married on August 24, 1968.
Donna graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1965. She earned a BSE degree from Arkansas State University in 1969 and her Master’s degree in Special Education in 1987 also from ASU. She was named Outstanding Graduate Student by the Department of Special Education. Donna was also a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
She taught elementary school in West Memphis, Arkansas. She also taught special education in Jonesboro at Cottage of Hope, and retired in 2007, after teaching special education at Jonesboro High School for 17 years.
Donna loved to travel throughout the US and Europe with both her family and friends. She also spent many happy summers at the beach with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included reading and playing mahjong with her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Jordan and husband Matt of Fairfax, Virginia and grandchildren, Katherine and Nicholas Jordan.
A visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:30 at Emerson Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial and all other services will be private.
