Donald William Bigham, 76, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, November 08, 2012, of natural causes at his home.
Born in Newport, Donald moved with his family to Flint, Michigan when he was one year old. He graduated from high school in Michigan and entered the U.S. Air Force where he served active duty for 10 years. Following military service, Donald worked for the United States Postal Service in Newport for 25 years. After his postal career, Donald was a truck driver for MDR Cartage and then a driver for Sunbelt Courier. He lived in Heber Springs before moving to Jonesboro in 1994.
Donald was a member of Valley View Church of Christ and enjoyed working with antique cars, and woodworking. He enjoyed history and was preceded in death by his first wife, Licia Goatin Bigham, by a sister, Jacqueline Bigham Bray, and by his parents, James and Alafa Smith Bigham.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Y. Bigham of the home;
1 son, Barton Dilday (Faye) of St. Charles, Missouri;
1 daughter, Tara Dilday Zipp (Bill) of Fort Smith;
1 brother-in-law, Bill W. Smith (Doralea) of Jonesboro;
3 sisters-in-law: Janice Pollard of Jonesboro, Dorothy Jackson (Jay) of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Phyllis Evins of Newport;
A special cousin, Franchelle Bigham Harrell of Newport;
4 grandchildren, Audra, Erin, Josh (Danielle) and Eli; and
6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with David Gibson officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 until service time in the chapel.
