Donald (Don) F. Throesch, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 surrounded by family.
Born in the Engelburg community of Randolph County, Don lived there until moving to Jonesboro in 1957. He was a 1961 graduate of Arkansas State College and began his business career in industrial manufacturing then on to starting a business in industrial supply. Don’s continued vision and interest in business also lead him in ventures of agriculture, warehousing, and real estate.
Don was a long-time active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and had served on the Blessed Sacrament School Board and the Parish Council. He was always involved in the Fall Festival, served many occasions as a pallbearer for the Holy Angels Convent and was instrumental in locating and securing the property for the new home of Blessed Sacrament church and school.
Don was a member of the Jonesboro Elks Lodge and faithful volunteer of Special Olympics in Northeast Arkansas. Don grew up on a farm and had a lifelong interest in agriculture. He enjoyed spending time on the land both as a farmer in his youth and later as a land owner. Don was preceded in death by his parents: Henry Joseph and Josephine Hausman Throesch; sister Mary Lee Warner; and brothers: Roy, Edgar, Robert and Joe Throesch.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Throesch of the home, married April 8, 1961;
5 children and their spouses: Suzanne Throesch Thomas (Del), Janet Gunter (Paul), Jeff Throesch (Susan), Donna Loveless (Todd) and Jennifer Throesch, all of Jonesboro; and
5 grandchildren: Olivia Throesch, Walker Throesch, Quinn Thomas, and twins Gerrit Loveless and Henry Loveless.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Emerson Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Monsignor Scott Friend officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
