Donald Wayne "Donny" Liggett, 68, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, May 23, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Austin, Texas, Donny lived in Texas before moving to Arkansas where he was a 1972 graduate of Searcy High School where he was a member of the Lions football team. He earned a BS degree from Arkansas State University where he was an active member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. For three production seasons, Donny played the role of "Li'l Abner" at Dogpatch USA in north Arkansas.
Following college graduation Donny entered the sales and marketing profession and lived in Arkansas and Louisiana. He spent the last thirty years of his career as a sales and manufacturing representative of medical equipment before medical retirement.
Donny was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was a member of the Houston-Patterson Sunday School Class and a founding member of Celebrate Recovery at Central. Donny enjoyed giving of himself to travel and minister to those on hard times even to skid rows in the inner cities of America. He loved people and he loved to serve people.
Donny was preceded in death by his parents: Duard and Annette Williams Liggett; a brother and his wife Randy and Karen Liggett; his father-in-law, David L. Doyle; and a brother-in-law, David W. Doyle.
Survivors include his wife Angie Liggett of the home;
three daughters and their husbands: Amber and Chris Stone, April and Robby Bollinger and Leslie and Jason Edwards, all of Jonesboro;
one son, Chris Goodman of Jonesboro;
4 grandchildren: Van Stone, Barron Bollinger, Vivian Bollinger and Olivia Edwards;
his mother-in-law, Kathryn Doyle of Jonesboro;
sister-in-law, Lisa Doyle of Jonesboro; and
brother-in-law, Mike Doyle of Thailand
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will precede the memorial service from 1:00-2:00 in the chapel.
Members of the Houston-Patterson Sunday School class will sit as honorary pallbearers.
