Donald Ray "Don" Kissinger, 78, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, March 12, 2018, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Don was born at Day, Arkansas, and was a 1957 graduate of Violet Hill High School in Izard County. He moved to Jonesboro in 1960 and began a 35-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Don started as a lineman and installer with the phone company and later moved inside the central office and served as a switchman until his retirement.
Don was a member of Trinity Church in Jonesboro and the Jonesboro Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, woodworking and fishing. Don was an avid Arkansas Razorback Fan and was preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Audie Lowrance Kissinger; 1 brother, David Kissinger; 3 half brothers and 1 half sister.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Kissinger of the home;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Mark Gibson of Rogers;
1 son and daughter-in-law: James and Sara Kissinger of Rogers;
2 step sons and daughter-in-law: Mark and Belinda Wimpy and Perry Wimpy, all of Jonesboro;
6 grandchildren and their spouses: Joseph and Miranda Gibson of Boston, Massachusetts, and Timothy Gibson, Natalie Gibson, Katherine Anne and Jake Wilkie, Audrey Kissinger and Sally Kissinger, all of Rogers;
2 step grandchildren,
2 step great grandchildren, and
his Shih tzu canine buddy, "Luke."
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mark Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the service.
Active pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers include his retired co-workers from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
