Donald Ray Jenkins 78 of Jonesboro passed away Monday, June 8, at NEA hospital. He was born June 13, 1941 in Paragould to the late Oscar and Hazel Jenkins.
Don worked as a county executive director for the USDA. He held that position for 30 years. Previous to his work in Agriculture he was a physical education teacher, basketball, and baseball coach for the Monette Buffalo and the Lake City Catfish, both of which provided him with many fond memories and great stories. He met his wife Mena during his first coaching job in Monette. He loved telling the story of how they met. Don’s two greatest loves were Jesus and his family. He loved both with all his heart and soul.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters Dorotha Lamb and Wanda Wright and a brother in law, Charles Wright.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mena of the home; his son Bryan (Pam) of Jonesboro; daughter Jennifer (Jon) of Milan, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren; Jason (Lexi)Morgan of Jonesboro, Drew Morgan of Fayetteville, AR, Jake and Julianna Goodson of Milan, Tennessee.
