Donald E. Newcom

Donald E. “Mike” Newcom, 63, of Brookland, died Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Caraway, Mike lived most of his life in the Brookland area. He owned Newcom’s Carpet Service and served in the Arkansas National Guard.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He was raised in the Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Cliff Newcom and Lillian Beatrice Craig Newcom.

His Wife: Jean Heikes Newcom of the home;

2 Daughters: Kimberly Norwood of Cherokee Village, and
Kayla Lee of Jonesboro;

2 Brothers: Robert Gearld Newcom of Brookland, and
Van Edward Newcom of Dade City, Florida;

3 Sisters: Craiglyn Newell of Linden, Michigan, and
Wanda Ward, and
Alberta Griffin, both of Jonesboro;

4 Grandchildren: Charity Reed, Keith Glenn, Cesalee Norwood and Payton Lee.

Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Pine Log Cemetery with Bro. Jim Hillyer officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active Pallbearers include Rick Andrews, Greg Norwood, Henry Heikes, Bo Ray, Marty Hooks and Terry Shelby.

Honorary pallbearers include: Danny Ray, Eugene Shelby, Keith Glenn and Larry Newell.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
