Donald (Donnie) Glen Wise

Donald (Donnie) Glen Wise, 72, of Jonesboro passed away into Heaven on May 24, 2024.

He was born in Dyess Colony, Arkansas on August 28, 1951, moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas at an early age and raised in a loving family with his mother and father, Betty and J.W. Wise, and siblings, Carl,  Kevin and Shelia.

He graduated from Bay High School in 1970. As a child, Donnie attended Bay Assembly of God.  In his later years, he was devoted in watching Central Baptist Church on Sunday mornings.

Donnie dedicated much of his life to the community he loved, starting as a Jonesboro firefighter.  He was owner/operator of PTS Ambulance Service, served as a Jonesboro Alderman and Assistant Interim Mayor under Hubert Brodell.  He also worked at the Craighead Detention Center in Jonesboro.

Donnie was preceded in death by his wife Betty Wise and parents, J.W. and Betty Barnes Wise.

Survivors include his daughter, April Pillow and husband, Troy of Cherokee Village; stepdaughter, Kimberly Weesner of Jonesboro; son, Donald Neil Wise and wife Jill of Arkansas; brothers, Carl Wise and wife Priscilla of Jonesboro, Kevin Wise of Jonesboro, and sister, Sheila Walters of Trumann; grandchildren, Taylor Glen Pillow (as he lovingly called his favorite) and wife Rain, Ashlyn Pillow, Seth Issac Pillow and wife Amanda.  He is also survived by his great-grandson, Andrew Glen Pillow, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jay Jacobs officiating. Burial will be private.  Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Pillow, Kevin Wise, Kevin Wicker and the 1970 class of Bay High School.
