Donald "Don" Earl King

August 10, 1943 — September 4, 2013

Donald “Don” Earl King, age 70, died Wednesday at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Don was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg and Jonesboro. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Sylvia Morris King, and brother Carl King. Don is a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Stone Street Assembly of God.

Don loved doing things for people, he loved reading, he was in the Optimist Club and received the Distinguished President Award; he also received the VIP award for volunteer in Little Rock School district. Don also enjoyed gardening, camping and canoeing; in his early years he was involved in Army Intelligence. He was also involved with the seniors group at church.

Survivors include Brenda, his loving wife of 47 years of the home; son, Brad (Audrey) King of Jonesboro; 2 daughters, Tanya (Chris) Lawrey, of Oxford, MS; Tamberly (Scott) Scrape of Pickerington, Ohio; 1 brother, Wayne (Pat) King of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Sarah Lawery, Eli King, Madison, Matthew and Andrew Scrape; and great granddaughter Amelia Lawrey.

Services will be Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Tyler and Jordan Lawrey, Matthew Scrape, Brian King, Scott Flanigan, Mat Erby, Brad Knuckles, Blake Goad. Members of the Optimist Club will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitiation will be Friday, September 6, 2013 At Emerson Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.
