Donald Chastain

Donald Chastain, 92, of Jonesboro,  passed from this life on April 18, 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born on October  20, 1929, in Richwoods, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Claudia Chastain. He was married to his wife, Marie Niswonger on July 7, 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was known as a hard worker, enjoyed making a garden, and loved going to church when able. He was a member of the Sanctuary Church of Jonesboro.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Dewayne Chastain.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marie Chastain; son, Larry Chastain (Deniece Holman); daughters, Deborah Meador, Janice Chastain, Karen (Ron) Townsand; siblings, LD Chastain and Betty Swinney; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-child.

Those serving as pallbearers include  Austin Forkum, Isaiah White, Jason (JJ) Melendez, Seth Chastain, and Cameron Meister. Ron Townsand will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

There will be a visitation held, Friday, April 22, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Emerson Memorial Chapel.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. with Brother Kenneth O’Connell officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
