Donald P. Bailey

Donald P. Bailey, age 80, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Donald was born to the late Melvin and Mae Bailey in Black Oak. He has lived in Jonesboro for the past 58 years coming from Evening Shade.

Donald was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ. Donald was a police officer for 10 years and a dispatcher for the fire department for another 10 years.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice and 2 brothers. Survivors include son, David Bailey of Jonesboro, 2 daughters, Paula Bailey of Jonesboro and Kathy Bailey of Denver, Colorado, 1 sister, Sue Bristow of Lynn; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Valley View Church of Christ with Michael Meredith officiating with burial following at McDaniel Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers include Jack McCann, Rick Thomas, Gary Etter, Rusty Grigsby, Wayne Masterson and Blake Bristow.

Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2013 at Emerson Memorial Chapel from 5-7 pm.
