Berley Don Nall, 73, of Brookland, AR, was born January 3, 1948 to Berley Frank Nall and Frances B. Nelms, also of Brookland. Don passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia.
Don graduated from Brookland Public Schools in 1965. He attended Arkansas State University before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1968. He was stationed in Panama City, Panama before serving on the USS R.H McCard. Don received the National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the Navy, he returned to ASU to complete his Bachelor of Science degrees in both Business Marketing and Management. He then opened his own photography studio in Jonesboro. In 1985 he earned The Certified Professional Photography (CPP) making him the first photographer in Arkansas to earn this certification. During the span of his 40 year career, Don became a household name being one of the most known photographers in Northeast Arkansas, earning many local, regional and national awards.
Don was also a talented Musician whose life-long love of music began from an early age. Having a natural talent, he could play any instrument he picked up, but the bass guitar was his favorite. Don and his buddies started their first band during high-school, and he continued to play with various friends until his health prevented him from doing so. Don’s other loves were collecting and riding motorcycles, cars, and hot rods.
Don, known by his family as Donnie, was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia “Patty” Scott (Kenny), nephews Jason Crocker (Debbie) and Joel Crocker (Jill), niece Shelly Gibson (Michael), two great nieces, Hadlee Crocker and Kathryn Crocker, four great nephews, Ryan Wicker, Jace Crocker, Lucas and Bradley Gibson, and his best friend, Phillis Cadle.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Pine Log Cemetery with Thomas Russell officiating and active pallbearers being Kenny Scott, Jason Crocker, Joel Crocker, Jace Crocker, Ryan Wicker, Michael Gibson, Lucas and Bradley Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers are the Brookland Class of 1965, the Northeast Arkansas Street Rod Association Club, and Fast Glass Corvettes Club.
For lasting memorials the family asks that consideration be given to Pine Log Cemetery.
