Don Haas

December 6, 1928 — September 19, 2013

Don Haas, 84 of Jonesboro, died Thursday at St. Bernards Medical Center. Don was born in Gibbon, Nebraska to Lester and Grace Haas.

He has lived in Jonesboro for 15 years. After retiring from the US Postal Service, Don went to work for the Jonesboro Sun as a courier. His dedication and service was recognized several times with most recently being awarded Courier of the Year.
Don was an ordained minister who loved God and his family. He was an avid reader and passionate about gardening.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Carol and Lucille and grand daughter, Amber Wheatly.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Donna and husband Michael Parker of Jonesboro and their children Mollie and Adam; Cathi and husband Jim Thompson of Jonesboro; 2 sons, Jonathan and wife Becky Haas of Johnson City, Tennessee and their children David and Chris; Tim and wife Becky Haas of Omaha, Nebraska and their children, Ryan and Tracy; 2 brothers, Marion and wife Evelyn Haas of Red Oak, Iowa and Dewayne Haas of Omaha, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday September 23, 2013 at 4:30 PM at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rick Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Haas, Tim Haas, Michael Parker, Ryan Haas, David Haas and Adam Parker.

Visitation will be Sunday September 22, 2013 from 4-6 PM at Emerson Funeral Home.
