Don C. Denny, 85, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (Green) Denny for 61 years, passed away peacefully at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family on June 9, 2018. He was born to the late John and Madge Denny on August 27, 1932.
Don was born near Rector, Arkansas. Don lived most of his life in Jonesboro and was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking and gardening. He graduated from Arkansas State College with a BS in Agricultural Education and a Masters in Education Administration. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Don worked as a Dean in Student Affairs at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro for over 35 years. He was known as Dean Don Denny. He enjoyed counseling and working with students and making a difference in their lifes.
Besides his wife Margaret, Don is survived by his son Mark L. Denny (Linda) of Jonesboro and his daughter, Tracy S. Reome of Jupiter, Florida; his grandchildren, Katie Reome of New York and Valerie (JW) Fritts of Huntsville, AR ; his great-grandchildren Kyle and Aaron Fritts; as well as numerous nieces and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the employees of St. Bernard’s, HealthSouth and ACCH for the wonderful care they offered him during his hospitalization. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last two months were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Emerson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held honoring Don on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 2 PM with Mr. David Head officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be JW Fritts, Rodney Elwood, Dave Atherton, Randy West, Danny Morse, Sonny Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McNight, Wes Eddington, Leonard McDaniel and Bob Elwood.
