Don Curtner

Don Curtner, 79, of Jonesboro passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
Don was born in Lake City on January 5, 1936 to the late Oria and Lockie Cullen Curtner. He grew up in the Craighead county area, and later joined the US Army. After the military he moved out to California where he worked with the Carpenter’s Union until his retirement. He moved back to the Craighead county area in 1994 where he was able to be close to most of his family. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone, and his carpentry and mechanic skills have always come in handy. He loved to go fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Curtner Jr.; three brothers, Oria Curtner Jr., Richard A.Curtner, and Harold Dean Curtner; three sisters, Ella Maxine Stowell, Jackie Strickland, and Audrey Louise Bunch.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dovie Tinsley Curtner of Jonesboro; four sons, Dennis Curtner of Calico Rock, Michael Curtner (Tia), Rayborn Curtner, and Donnie Curtner all of Jonesboro; three daughters, Elaine Barnhart (Merl) of Ohio, Misty Moreno (Guy) of Jonesboro, and Johanna Curtner of Ohio; brothers, Jerry Curtner of Brookland; two sisters, Mattie Cunningham of Jonesboro and Fayon Lunsford of Stuttgart; fifteen grandchildren, Rayborn Ford, Heather Schramm, Alex Zazveta, Nikita Parker, Nick Doolittle, Andrew Moreno, Alysha Bowers, Elena Moreno, Guy Moreno Jr, Leah Moreno, Desirae Hernandez, Martin Navarro, and Natalie Navarro, Lee Curtner, and Aiden Curtner; eleven great grandchildren, Jamie, Alysha, Aubreigh, Makenzie, Mason, Hallie, Evan, Ray Jr, Hannah, Liam, and Haley; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Martin Passmore officiating. Interment will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
