Don Oliver Cahoon, 86, of Jonesboro died Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Marianna, Arkansas, October 29, 1930, to Henry Thomas Cahoon and Mamie Thelma Swayzee and attended schools in Marianna. After attending schools in Marianna he worked for the Corps of Engineers in West Memphis for 5 years and then was a self-employed HVACR and electrical contractor for 40 years and was a member of the city council and fire department for 15 years in Marianna. After moving to Jonesboro, he was a state heating and air condition inspector for 9 counties in eastern Arkansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro and a member of the Adult Sunday School Couples Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Paul Cahoon.
Survivors include his wife 67 years, Mildred, of the home; sons, David Cahoon (Jo Anne), Mark Cahoon (Thyrsie); grandchildren, Clay Cahoon, Michael Cahoon, Casey Johnson, Sarah Thorn, John Cahoon; great grandchildren, Baron Cahoon, Callie Cahoon, Krewe Johnson, Carson Thorn, Colin Thorn.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 Wednesday morning until service time.
