Dolphis Russell, 71, of Jonesboro, went home on Friday, October 8, 2010, after a long illness. He dearly loved his family and was the sixth of 13 children born to Brodie and Etta Jane Blaylock Russell.
Dolphis was born in Hergett and lived all of his life in the Bay-Jonesboro area. He founded Jonesboro Police Supply and Ace Termite and Pest Control in Jonesboro. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Dolphis was a member of the Nettleton Masonic Lodge where he was a thirty second degree mason and a certified lecturer.
Dolphis was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Donald, L.B., Jerry and Waylon Russell. He loved people as a Christian saved by grace, and had a positive influence on many lives in this area.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Russell of the home;
1 daughter, Cathy Russell of the home;
3 sisters: Betty Gibson, Christine Grimes and Brenda Fletcher, all of Jonesboro;
5 brothers: Elmo Russell of Bono, Eugene Russell of Brookland, Bobby Russell of Jonesboro, Willard Russell of Goobertown and Dale Russell of Ravenden;
A special sister-in-law, Sandra Brightwell of Jonesboro;
Twin granddaughters, Haley Woods, and Holly Woods, and a special grandson, Brad Swails, all of Jonesboro; and
2 great granddaughters, Macy Olivia Warden and Elizabeth Rayne Swails, both of Jonesboro.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in Oaklawn Cemetery with Larry Merrell officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12 noon until 1:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.
