Dolores Proctor Harrelson, 92, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jonesboro Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born in Wynne, Dolores lived several years in Forrest City before moving to Jonesboro in 1968. Dolores was manager of Forrest City Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed playing golf while living there. In 1968, Dolores began a career with East Arkansas Planning and Development District serving as Assistant Director. Later, she became the first female Director of any planning district in the United States. She was associated with EAPDD for over 25 years.
In 1993, Dolores was invited to and attended the Inauguration of President Bill Clinton in Washington. Following her retirement from EAPDD, she once again took up golf, joining the Jonesboro Country Club and playing golf often. One of her greatest joys was the annual get together with her three sons: For over twenty years, every spring between her April birthday and mother’s day, she and her sons would celebrate being together. It was often just the four of them, but did expand to include daughters-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Bernards Village for all of their care during her years there and the many angels of Visiting Angels.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents: Dan and Mabel Best Proctor.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Dan and Kathryn Harrelson of Little Rock, Keith and Jennifer Harrelson of Atlanta, and Woody and Kenna Harrelson of Jonesboro;
1 sister and brother-in-law: Esther Marie “Bootsie” and Oscar Specht of Salem, Oregon;
1 brother and sister-in-law: Horace and Betty Proctor of Forrest City;

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating.
There will be no visitation.
