Dollie Shelton

Dollie Summers Shelton, 91 of Jonesboro died Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Grubbs, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro for the past 71 years. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelton was an LPN at St. Bernard's Medical Center for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. T. Shelton; her son, Toby Shelton; one daughter, Louise McPherson; Jeff Easley, her grandson, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her sons-and daughters-in-law; David S. and Vada Shelton of Brookland, Arkansas; Jerry and Janice Shelton, Atwood, Tennessee; and Thomas and Betty Shelton of Jackson, Tennessee. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Richard Easley of Ennis, Texas and Hilda and John Bennett, of Austin, Texas.

Dollie had one surviving sister, Gracie Mae Ball, of Jonesboro, 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 27, 2006 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with grandson, Stan Shelton officiating and Son, Jerry Shelton assisting with burial to follow in Philadelphia Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and grandsons and granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
