Diane Annette Thompson

February 24, 1955 — March 24, 2025

Beloved mother, wife, and daughter Diane Annette Mooney Thompson passed away at 11:34 p.m. on March 24, 2025. She is survived by her faithful husband, Hank, and children Marcie (Heath) Miller, Henry, Heather (Jerry) Lowrey, and Linda. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Cali, who was her constant companion.

Diane was the second child of Rev. Von Dell and Wilma Jean Sossamon Mooney. She was born on February 24, 1955, at St. Edward’s Hospital in Fort Smith, AR. Her early life involved many moves throughout Arkansas and Missouri as a Methodist minister’s child. Her family life revolved around church activities, new schools, and new friends. She graduated from Conway High School in 1973.

Throughout her life, she was reminded of her status as the number two sister by her bossy oldest sister, Pamela Henley. Her other siblings include Jeanie (Steve) Keim, Randy (Donna) Mooney, and Howard (Julie) Mooney. Her children describe her as a true hippy, a very spiritual, kind, loving, ambitious, hardworking person with a strong work ethic. She had a wonderful sense of humor and very much enjoyed the gift of gab to anyone who would listen. Her caring and loving personality was felt by all who knew her. One of her main goals in life was to be youthful and to never divulge her true age as she lived vicariously.

Diane’s most proud achievement in life besides her children were her adoring grandchildren, Phoenix, Scarlett, McKenzi, Jasper, and Malakai. As quoted by Scarlett, “Grandma really loved everyone unconditionally.”

A memorial service for Diane will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
