Diane Crews

Brenda Diane Crews, 70, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, at her home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama, to Junior Lee and Joy Louise Timms Bowden while Junior was active duty military, Diane moved with her family to Germany before entering first grade in Jonesboro. She lived with her family several years in El Paso, Texas, until her father retired from the Army and the family moved to Memphis. When Diane was 16, she was traveling with her family from Memphis for Mother's Day when an automobile accident claimed the lives of  her parents. Diane moved to Jonesboro and was a 1968 graduate of Nettleton High School. She was also a graduate of Jonesboro Business College and attended Arkansas State University.

Diane served as City Clerk-Treasurer over 20 years for the City of Lake City. Following her public service, Diane worked as clerk and bookkeeper for Magic Touch, Inc. of Jonesboro until her retirement. During her years of city service, Diane founded and organized the Annual Lake City Easter Egg Hunt, and wrote a grant request which funded the Lake City splash pad.

Diane was a member of Refuge General Baptist Church in Lake City and enjoyed playing Canasta with her friends. For several years she was a member of the Jonesboro Bowling League. She was preceded in death by her parents and her special uncle and aunt,  Harold and Marcene Timms, who stepped into the parental roles following her parents' deaths.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Larry Crews of the home, married September 1, 1978;

1 daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Monte Emery of Lake City;

2 brothers and sister-in-law: Steven Allen Timms of Lake City, and Steve and Becky Bowden of Benton;

4 sisters and brothers-in-law: Renee Timms of Lake City, Janet and Mickey Mayland of Conway, Beth and Steve Adams of Lake City and Tammy Davis of Lake City;

4 grandchildren and their spouses: Jake and Rebekah Emery, Sydney Diane and Levi Reed, Tucker Emery and Savannah Elizabeth Emery; and

2 great grandchildren: Miller Crews Reed and Mathis Jak Emery.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday in Lake City Cemetery with Pastor Steve Hinkle officiating. Per the Arkansas Health Department Covid19 guidelines, a face mask must be worn by those attending the service and social distancing will be required. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
