DeWitt Waites, 87, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday December 17, 2015 at the White River Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. He was born in Dierks, Arkansas on June 10, 1928 to the late J.O. Waites and Annie Mitchell Waites. DeWitt lived in Jonesboro for 40 years, was a retired radio announcer for KPCA in Marked Tree, Arkansas, Travelers Baseball in Little Rock substitute teacher for Jonesboro High School for 8 years and a door greeter at Sam’s Club.
In addition to his parents, DeWitt was preceded in death by a brother; James Waites Jr., sisters; Glendora Snell, Elaine Hale, Ruth Cox, Marie Obluck, Lavern Hobson, 2 grandchildren; Branda Lindley and Cody DeWitt Lindley .
Survivors include his daughters; Jan Cook and husband Glenn and Melinda Lindley all of Jonesboro.
Former wife; Inez Waites of Jonesboro.
Sister; Betty Theiss of St. Louis, Missouri.
4 grandchildren; Jacob Cook (Jennifer), Justin Cook (Meredith), Chase Cook and Sean Lindley.
4 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday December 21, 2015 at the Lorado Cemetery, with Rev. Gary Brown officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
There will be no visitation.
