Denver O. Sauls, 90, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday morning at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1988 and attended Strawfloor Baptist Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran having served as Chief Gunner Mate on the USS Farrenhold DD 491.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed & Olive Sauls, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Sauls, of Jonesboro, whom he married in 1945. He is also survived by his brother, J.E. Sauls, Walnut Ridge; sisters, Edna Bookout, Anderson, Indiana, Fredia Lewallen, Corning, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Harold Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Active pallbearers will be Tige Williams, Tyler McGloughlin, George Williams, Rusty Chambers, Terry Bookout, and Joseph Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Strawfloor Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00.
