Dennis Gibson

June 4, 1947 — December 15, 2020

Dennis Wayne Gibson, 73, resident of El Dorado and formerly of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Lifetouch Hospice in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Dennis leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Anne and Rob Robinson; his granddaughters, Emma and Reaves Robinson; his sister, Janelle Seat; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brownie and Claude Gibson, his brother, Bill Gibson, Sr., and his wife, Brenda Gibson.

Dennis was born on June 4, 1947 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. After graduating from Valley View High School in 1965, Dennis attended Central Baptist College in Conway where he met the love of his life, Brenda Parris. Dennis and Brenda married on August 13, 1966 at Unity Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas. Dennis moved his bride back home to Jonesboro and soon enlisted in the Arkansas National Guard. After completing his basic training in Fort Polk, Louisiana, he rejoined Brenda in Jonesboro and enrolled at Arkansas State University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from ASU in 1971.

Dennis was a member and deacon at Big Creek Baptist Church for many years, and served as the church treasurer. He joined First Baptist Church in El Dorado in January, 2019. Dennis’ love for everything agriculture began at an early age when he started working in the fields of the Gibson Family Farm. He farmed for many years all over Craighead County. He was a partner in Valley View Agri-Systems which sparked a passion for selling and construction of grain bins and equipment. His large personality and gentle spirit proved perfect for a second career in sales. He was a licensed Agricultural Consultant and worked in agricultural chemical sales until the time of his passing. Dennis continued to sell and construct farm buildings through his partnership in G & B Sales and Sukup. Dennis was a Master Mason and was extremely honored earlier this year to receive his Fifty Year Certificate from The Grand Lodge of Arkansas.
