Dene Barnett

November 16, 1926 — November 4, 2021

Dene Barnett, 94 of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.  She was born in Bay, Arkansas to the late James David Costner and Jewell McMinn Costner on November 16, 1926.  Dene worked as an accountant and she enjoyed crafts and painting, crochet and knitting.  Dene loved her family.  She loved the outdoors and working in the garden.  Dene loved to travel and was ready at a moments notice.  She was very athletic growing up playing basketball and baseball.  She was a member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ. Dene is preceded in death by her husband, Leo Barnett; brother, Jerry Costner and 3 sisters, Betty Cranmore, Tommy Lyle Layne and Lila Jean Wilson.

Survivors include son, Rick (Debbie) Barnett of Jonesboro; daughter, Karen (Dutch) Baxter of Jonesboro.  6 grandchildren, Todd Baxter, Blaine (Mecca) Baxter, Blake (Holly) Faulkenberry, Brandy (Blake) Thompson, Dee Anna (Todd) Goode, Felicia (Kendall) Boyd. 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews that she loved very much and her special friend Maria Halcom.

Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2021 from 10-11 AM with service starting at 11 AM at Emerson Memorial Chapel with  Terry Joe Kee  officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Todd Baxter, Blaine Baxter, Blake Faulkenberry, Blake Thompson, Clif Baxter and Austin Baxter.

In lieu of flowers family ask that donations be made to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, 1138 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
