Dr. Demetrius Spyridon Spanos, MD passed on November 4, 2019 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born in Athens, Greece on August 25, 1960 and immigrated at the age of 6 to Chicago with his parents, Eleftheria Lagen Spanos (deceased) and Spyridon Demetrius Spanos, along with his sister Katerina, who still reside in the Chicago area. Demetrius married Wendy Leigh Pardew from Jonesboro on February 16, 1992. Two children, Alexia and Spyro Spanos were born in Jonesboro. Demetrius deeply adored his family and was a brilliant, kind, and giving man and a devoted father and husband.
Demetrius practiced Neurology in Jonesboro from 1996 to present and started his own practice in 2002, Neurology Associates of Northeast Arkansas. He helped a tremendous number of patients through their pain and illnesses in the Northeast Arkansas area with grace and compassion. Demetrius loved to teach. He shared his extensive knowledge of medicine and history freely and without restraint. He had an insatiable thirst for more knowledge and continued to be an avid reader of medicine and history. He was an avid collector of art, books and historical artifacts. He will be deeply missed as a father, husband, friend and practitioner. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 6 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Orthodist Church from 5-7 and services will be at the church on Thursday, November 7 at 11:00 with Bishop Christopolos officiating and under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
