Deloris Jean Smith

June 27, 1941 — September 2, 2022

Deloris Jean Smith, 81, passed away September 2, 2022 at the Springs of Jonesboro.

Ms. Jean, as she was affectionately known was loved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She outlived two husbands, Rev. Curtis B. Smith and Bill Graham.

She was a pastor’s wife serving alongside her husband for more than 40 years of ministry. She loved the people God placed in front of her. Moving periodically from Arkansas to Missouri, back to Arkansas and then to Creede, Colorado always supportive of her husband in the pastorate. Eventually, returning to Arkansas she cared for and served the needs of her husband until his death.

Ms. Jean grew up in a pastor’s home and enjoyed traveling with her father to revival meetings and singings. She was the youngest child in a family of 5.

She is preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Davis and Esther Cupp and brother, Basil Williams. Survivors include one brother, Carl Williams (Jeannie) of Jonesboro, two sons, Brandt Smith (Gailia) of Jonesboro, Greg Smith (Kari) of Idaho Springs, Colorado and Stephanie Hester of Creede Colorado.

She was grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church while her health was good. She also worked at Walmart on Parker Road as a stocker in the pharmacy area. She loved her coworkers and enjoyed many friendships while there.

Her hobbies and interests included family, sewing, crossword puzzles, board games and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until grandma Williams passed away.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brandt Smith and Alyssa Smith officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Burial will follow at Manning Cemetery near Sedgwick with Todd Williams, Steve Williams, Justyn Smith, Will Smith, Zachary Hester and Nathan Smith serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.

Since Jean suffered from Alzheimer’s the family asks donations be sent to Alzheimer’s research. Simply go to Alz.org for information on how to make a donation.
