Deloris Rose Ford, 78, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Bliss, Missouri, Deloris moved to Jonesboro with her family in 1952. She retired as the Team Leader Technician for St. Bernards Medical Center Central Sterile Processing with 34 years of service.
Deloris is a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday school and was a charter member of Magnolia Road Baptist Church where she was the first female ordained deacon. She was a past Den Leader and Cub Master for Cub Scouts of America and enjoyed genealogy research. Following her retirement from St. Bernard's, Deloris worked as a hostess for Paulette Horman's Tea Room in Jonesboro where she enjoyed meeting and serving the customers. Above all, her greatest joy was working in her home and having her family gatherings there.
The family wishes to thank the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House staff for the compassionate care given to their mother and grandmother.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary Ava Pruitt Cain, daughter Vicki Lynn Townsend, son Brian Roberts, and 15 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Ford of the home;
4 sons and daughters-in-law: David Roberts (Lynn) of Pearl, Mississippi, Douglas Ford (Allie) of Norfork, Virginia, Shane Ford of Gainesville, Texas, and Brad Townsend (Katy) of Jonesboro.
3 daughters and sons-in-law: Phyllis Hendrix (Jeff) of Searcy, Michele Strommer (Bear) of Jonesboro, and Angie Trayler (Todd) of Goldsboro, North Carolina;
19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Emerson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Phyllis Hendrix, Michele Strommer, Brad Townsend, LeighAnne Blackstone, HaiLeigh Blackstone, Wesley Painter and Caroline Greeno.
Honorary pallbearers include Glenda Ozier, Luther and Regina Ingram, Dixie and Josh Brabham, Hansel and Frances Stephens and Kay French.
