Deloris "Dude" Melton

Deloris (Dude) A. Melton, 70, of Brookland, died Thursday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Caraway, Deloris moved to Jonesboro in 1986 and then to Brookland 15 years ago. She was retired from Arkansas Glass Container with 33 years of service. She was a Baptist and enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, yard work and growing flowers.

Deloris was preceded in death by her first husband, John Harris, her parents, Gerald and Katherine Peterson Nall, and by a sister, Martha Whitehead.

Survivors include her husband, James Melton of the home;

4 daughters, Jerri Sanders of Tennessee, Sherri Kibler of Jonesboro, Keri Lee Tate of Enola, and Tracy Winters of Jonesboro;

1 son, Terry Harris of Paragould;

2 brothers, Bob Nall of Jonesboro and Wayne Nall of Caraway;

8 grandchildren; and her constant companion, Shiatsu “Scooter.”

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Wayne Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in Caraway Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Kyle Murphy, Aaron Dallas, Brock Gartman, Josh Clairday, Layne Harris, John Bailey Harris, Terra Tate, Darby Harris and Bayle Winter. Honorary pallbearers include Hunter Miller, Curtis Miller, Tim Brickell, Winfred Melton, Ronnie Harris, Marion Whitehead, Heath Sanders, Kevin Jones and Jerry Qualls.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro.
