Delbert Tate, 82, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Bono to the late Wesley and Hazel Tate on December 6, 1932.
Delbert retired in 2003 as a Service Manager of Martin Equipment in Goodfield, Illinois. He and his wife, Evalyn, lived in El Paso, Illinois for 37 years before moving back to Jonesboro. Delbert was a humorous man who touched so many lives and had a passion for children. He was a member of the Bono Church of Christ and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, who loved to fish, and was a devoted family man.
He will always be remembered by all who knew him as “Mr. Delbert” with the perfect lawn.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Tate; granddaughter, Tiffany Tate; great grandson, Tate Orabutt.
Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Evalyn Tate of the Home; son, Randy Tate (Gayla) of Mountain Home; daughters, Karen Manhart (Pete) of Downs, Illinois, Cathy Roop (Denny Hiscock) of PawPaw, Michigan; honorary daughter, Marie Clem (Tom) of Downs, Illinois; brothers, Elbert Tate (Elois) of Nixon, Missouri, Daril Tate (Gene) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jim Tate (Liz) of Judsonia, Arkansas. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Darlene Shipman, Dr. Edwards and staff of Pertineal Dialysis Center, and many family and friends for their support and prayers.
The funeral service will be held at Emerson Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 with Kent Mcdaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Allen Keith, Kenny James, Wayne Tate, Gaylon Tate, Raymond Covey, and Tom McElrath.
The honorary pallbearers will be the Bono Church of Christ elders, Bill Swindel, Floyd Howard, Scott Knight, Larry Sapetti, Berney Roberts, Jim Webb, Terry Geiselman, Bill Heibenthal, Al Kerley, and Wes McBroom.
The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.
