Dee Mae Roddy, 93, of Jonesboro, died June 24, 2013 at NEA Baptist Hospital. The daughter of Andrew & Margaret Mae Castleberry, Dee Mae was a long time member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She attended school in Jonesboro and was the valedictorian for the class of 1938. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women. Dee Mae enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and was quite a seamstress.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Shane) Waldrop of Jonesboro; her grand dog, “Weenie”; and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alton Roddy; her parents; and her sisters, Grace Wolpert and Bertha Hollingsworth.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chris Hemund and Rev. Arliss Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Pat Chitmon, Leonard McDaniel, Jeff Watkins, Phil Hendrix, Bill Keith, Jim Weathers, Danny Jones, and Willie Rose.
Honorary pallbearers will include Orval McKisson, Dr. Steve Woodruff, Charles Long, and Jim Hall.
Visitation will be Friday 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
