Davis Ruth Newcom

Davis Ruth Newcom, 93, of Lake City, passed from this life on November 11, 2021 at St Bernards Medical Center. Davis was born in Trumann on November 5, 1928, to the late Josie and Carl Roberds. In addition to her parents, Davis is preceded in death by her husband, Preston Newcom; and sister, Juanita Cox.

Davis was of the Baptist belief. She spent a lot of her time crocheting and bugging her great-grandkids. Her morning ritual always involved her cup of coffee and a cigarette. Davis loved to cook. She made the perfect apple cake, dressing, chicken and dumplings, and fried chicken. Her love of cooking would always grow with the holiday season. She made many meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most importantly, Davis loved being with her family.

Davis is survived by her sons, Ivran Newcom and William Newcom (Qiuhua), both of Lake City; daughters, Melissa Gregory of Lake City, Angel Parrish of Light, and Susie Daniels (James) of Jonesboro; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on November 15, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home. A public visitation will precede the service from 1pm to 2pm. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
