Obituary

David Arvis Woodard, 61, of Jonesboro, passed away on October 2, 2026, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born in Memphis, TN, on May 29, 1965, to Patricia Woodard and the late Solan Arvis Woodard. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike and Mark Woodard, and his sister, Alisa Woodard.

David spent his youth in Mountain Home before his family moved to Northeast Arkansas, where he called Jonesboro home for over 40 years. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1983 and earned his business degree at Arkansas State University in 1989. He worked his way through college and later bought the frame shop where he worked, founding Picturesque Custom Framing by David Woodard.

During and after college, David joined the Army National Guard and served until his retirement in 2006 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served with the 875th Engineer Battalion at Camp Robinson, worked with the marksman training unit, and, after 9/11, served as a mobile sniper trainer. He deployed to Mosul, Iraq. After the military, he worked in trucking logistics before fully retiring.

Serving his country meant a great deal to David, and the soldiers he served beside became his brothers for life, among them Shannon Davis, Martin Keller and Robert Summers. He was just as loyal to his friends. His friendships with Ed Grisham, Steve May and Bobby Hahn lasted a lifetime.

David lived a full life outside his work. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and duck hunt, especially on the White River. He loved music and collected vinyl albums, from Led Zeppelin and Elton John to Bob Seger and Hall & Oates. In his last years, he brought his mother into his home and cared for her himself. Most importantly, David loved being with his family. He will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones alike.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Krislane “Kris” Woodard; his mother, Patricia Woodard; his sons, David Logan Arvis Woodard and Justin Lane Woodard; his daughter, Kassandra Wilson (Rocky); his brother-in-law, Leon Brown Jr. (Claire); his sister, Teresa McRoberts (Gary); his sister-in-law, Keeley Brown; his nieces, Olivia Brown, Sara Kate Brown and Kaitlyn Kreger (Austin); his nephews, Joshua Hunter Carpenter and Kameron Weisfeld; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

The family of David Woodard would like to extend an invitation to friends and family for a celebration of his life on November 7, 2026, at 6 PM at the Brickhouse Restaurant in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The Brickhouse was more than a restaurant to David, and their owners, Dan and Casey Johnson, and their children became family to David. It was a place where his friends and family, and friends who became family, would often meet and enjoy good times and lots of cheering on the New Orleans Saints. We can’t think of a better place to celebrate David’s love for life.
