David Norman Wolters

David Norman Wolters, 70, passed away November 4, 2023, at the Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas, after a long illness. He was born on August 6, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Norman Wolters and Margaret Perdzock Wolters.

David graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Memphis in 1971 and attended the University of Memphis. He worked in supermarket management and category sales in Memphis and Nashville until 2000, when he relocated to Bella Vista, AR. From 2000-2007 he worked as an Operations Agent for American Eagle Airlines in Bentonville. David spent the last 11 years of his career at Walmart’s headquarters in Bentonville, first as an International Travel Agent, then as a Traffic Coordinator in Logistics.

He was recognized countless times throughout his career by customers and coworkers for his customer service and attention to detail, going above and beyond his normal duties. One example was after a massive tornado destroyed much of Joplin, Missouri in 2011, David assisted with the logistics to get a relief center set up quickly to aid the people in Joplin at a very difficult time. While at Walmart, he also coordinated a care package shipment to our troops in Iraq.

David enjoyed traveling, landscaping, music and watching the Arkansas Razorbacks, Memphis Tigers & Grizzlies and Green Bay Packers. He combined his love of travel and sports by following the Razorbacks to the College World Series in Omaha on several occasions. Above all, David loved to visit with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always there to help when help was needed.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Wolters and Peter Wolters. He is survived by his sister, Helen Coulon Massanelli (Mike), Jonesboro; his brother, Tim Wolters (Cindy), Springfield, Missouri; seven nephews and nieces, Colonel Jeff Coulon (Amy), Tampa, Florida; Misty Wolters, Ozark, Missouri; Jennifer Wolters (Joshua), Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Joey Wolters (Ashley), Caulfield, Missouri; Jeremy Wolters (Erica), Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; Stephen Wolters (Corie), Springdale, Arkansas; and Sarah Wolters, Fayetteville, Arkansas; ten great-nephews and nieces, and many cousins.

A funeral Mass will be 10:00 Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Alex Smith officiating and  under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
