David L. Slaven, 69 of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully following a battle with cancer on April 1, 2017 surrounded by his family and dear friends. He was born to the late Edna Yvonne Slaven in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His graduated from Bono High School in 1966 and attended ASU for a short time and had lived in Kansas City, Missouri since 1980.
David was an avid musician and played with various groups in the Kansas City area. He also was a writer, fisherman, hunter, comedian, motorcycle rider, stock car racer and a national guardsman. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Yvonne Slaven, his grandparents, Garfield and Maggie Slaven and the mother of his daughter, Julia Ledell.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Lemmond (Jake), grandchildren, Liam and Emerson Lemmond and a host of friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 19th at St. Peter’s in Kansas City, Missouri. There will be a graveside service Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Herman Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
