David William Slagley, age 70, of Hoxie, Arkansas, passed away on November 2, 2026. He was born on January 6, 1956.
David was a man who was known for his enjoyment of the simple things in life, especially fishing, hunting, and his relentless sense of humor. Above all, he cherished his family and loved having everyone together on Sundays. Those gatherings were special to him, creating memories and moments that his family will treasure for years to come. Some of his friends affectionately knew him as “Preacher Wayne,” a nickname that will continue to bring fond memories to those who knew him. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church where he found a love for Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Slagley and Emogene Hendrix Slagley; one sister, Jo Ann Slavin; one brother, Greg Slagley; three brothers-in-law, Jim Webster, Bob Falhauber, and Jerry Buchanan; one son-in-law, Jacob Reeves; and two nephews, Cameron Light and Jimmy Webster.
David is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Light Slagley, of the home; three daughters, Amy (James) Jumper, Melody Reeves, and Rebecca (Alex) Ward; four sisters, Willie Mae (Ed) Baker, Betty Webster, Mary Jane Falhauber, and Lynn Buchanan; one brother, Tillman Slagley; and six grandchildren, Cadence and Eayon Jumper, Julie and Lillian Reeves, and Aiden and Madilyn Ward.
He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, family members and his two beloved dogs, Bear and Pearl, who will forever cherish his memory.
David will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his devotion to his family, and the joy he found in bringing those he loved together. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
